Trying to keep up

Quite a lot happened in the last few years between posts:
Lost a job
Started a business
Started another business
Kept on writing... sort of...
Had a new idea for a book
Worked worked worked... why? It's only the worst economy in memory since the Great Depression!
Started a new book
Worked insane hours and much appreciation to my wife for holding on
Kept working on the first book
Thought things were better, then they got worse
Got another idea
Kept working...
Tried to keep focused on the first book (now 78,000 words) and about 2/3 done!
Finished a short story about a rule-abiding youth who cannot fathom what a pirate ship is doing cruising down his street on roller skates. When the galleon fails to signal at a left turn, the rule beakers must pay and the adventure begins!
Just merged my law firm with another firm and am feeling much better about life.
Trying to find someone who'll love my book to print.

First Post - should be working

I got into work early this morning and have been cracking away at a tax memo for the last 5 hours. I needed a break. I hit a pretty big milestone for me recently.

I am writing a novel. I plan to publish it some day. I have heard the general goal is around 90,000 to a maximum of 150,000 words for the Young Adult market. I just recently crossed the 45,000 word mark and that makes me at least 1/3 but maybe 1/2 of the way through the story. Coincidentally, having already outlined the story, it goes pretty quick and I am at Chapter 21 of 43, so I'm about right on.

In my dream of dreams, this will be a 3-4 book series and will let me live all my other dreams. I better get back to work.
